Next Gen CFLM Privacy Policy
Version 1.0 · Effective October 25, 2026
This policy explains what information New Perspectives on Learning ("NPOL," "we," "us") collects through Next Gen CFLM at nextgencflm.com (the "Platform"), how we use it, and how we protect it. It applies to educators who use the Platform, including during a free trial, and to the student information they enter.
Key points of this policy
- Students' first names stay on the teacher's device. They are not collected or stored in any way in our system. On our servers, each student is a random code, a number and an icon.
- Students don't have accounts. They use the Platform only to take 2-pen assessments their teacher starts, and they never enter personal information.
- We never sell personal information. We never use student information for advertising, or to build profiles for any purpose other than the student's learning.
- Studio Addelaide receives student codes and work, never names. Our AI provider does not use this information to train its models.
- You can delete any student or class at any time. If you don't continue after a trial, we delete your account's student information within 60 days after your access ends.
- Questions: customersupport@newperspectivesonline.net.
These key points are here for convenience. The full policy below applies.
1. Who we are
New Perspectives on Learning publishes Contexts for Learning Mathematics and operates the Platform. We are at 8305 Chinaberry Road, Vero Beach, FL 32963, and customersupport@newperspectivesonline.net. This policy covers the Platform at nextgencflm.com only, not NPOL's other websites and services.
2. Information we collect from educators
- Account information: your name, email address, role, and school or district. Our sign-in provider handles your password and sign-in codes; we never see your password.
- Your agreement record: the agreement version you accepted, each checkbox, the date and time, your IP address and browser, your trial group and end date, and how you plan to use the trial. If you add your own students, we also record your confirmation of your principal's approval, with its date, time and wording.
- Your profile and settings: for example, your grade levels, which sections appear in your daily view, and any comfort or experience ratings you choose to give.
- What you create: notes, Teaching Journal entries (including voice notes), favorites, whiteboards and drawings, progress monitoring observations and notes, 2-pen sessions and your decisions about their results, and Studio Addelaide conversations you choose to save.
- Studio Addelaide use: the questions you ask and the answers, any photo of student work you attach, and a daily count of your questions so we can apply usage limits. A photo is used once to answer your question and is not stored.
- Feedback: what you send with the Feedback button (the page, an optional rating and your comment) and your ratings of Studio Addelaide answers (the rating, your reason, and the question and answer).
- Technical information: our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, such as IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time, to run and secure the Platform. We do not use advertising trackers or third-party analytics.
3. Student information
The Platform is built so that NPOL never has students' names.
What we hold on our servers:
- a random code (such as S-7K3), a number and an icon for each student;
- observations and notes the teacher logs on progress monitoring sheets;
- 2-pen work: answers and drawings, which pen they used, and when;
- results the Platform proposes from that work, and the teacher's decisions about them;
- photos of student work a teacher uploads, kept in private storage and shown only through links that expire within an hour.
What we never hold: students' first or last names, ID numbers, birth dates, contact details, photos of faces, or student accounts and logins.
How first names work. A teacher types a first name, initials or a number. It is saved only in her browser on that device. She can download a class list file to bring the names to another device. When she asks Studio Addelaide about a student by name, her browser swaps the name for the student's code before anything is sent, and swaps it back on her screen.
How students take a 2-pen. Students use the Platform only for 2-pen assessments their teacher starts, in one of two ways:
- Class code: each student enters a short code on their own device and picks their picture and number. Student devices show pictures and numbers only, never names. A code stops working 3 hours after it's created. To stop guessing, we count wrong tries with a cookie that lasts 2 minutes and with the device's IP address, held briefly in server memory. Neither is saved with student work.
- Student Mode: students take turns on the teacher's signed-in screen, one child at a time. The teacher's PIN locks and unlocks it.
School authorization. Before a teacher adds her own students, she confirms that her principal has approved using the Platform with them. We use student information only on the school's behalf and only to provide the Platform for the students' education. Where FERPA applies, NPOL acts as a school official with a legitimate educational interest and uses education records only for the purpose they were shared. For students under 13, we rely on the school's authorization, as the FTC allows for services schools use for educational purposes, and do not use the information for any other purpose.
Our commitments. We never sell student information, use it for targeted advertising, build a profile of a student for any purpose other than their learning, or use it to train AI models. If a school or district asks us to sign its own data privacy agreement, we will. Where we have signed one, it controls if it differs from this policy.
4. How we use information
- To provide the Platform: run your account, show your daily view according to your profile, save your work, and run Studio Addelaide and 2-pen analysis.
- To run your trial: your invitation, access, end date and any extension, and emails about your trial.
- To support you: answer your questions and fix problems you report.
- To improve the Platform: read your feedback and ratings, and look at how features are used in a de-identified or combined form that doesn't identify you.
- To keep the Platform safe: protect accounts, prevent misuse, apply usage limits, and enforce the Trial Access Agreement.
- To keep records: of agreements accepted and of deletions.
- To send updates, only if you opt in. You can unsubscribe at any time. Student information is never used for marketing.
5. Studio Addelaide and AI
Studio Addelaide is powered by Claude, an AI model from Anthropic, through Anthropic's commercial service. To answer a question, we send Anthropic your question, the conversation so far, the page you're on, any photo you attach, and the student codes and logged observations the answer needs. We never send students' names. For 2-pen assessments, we send students' work under their codes to propose results.
Under Anthropic's commercial terms, it does not use this information to train its models. Conversations you don't save end when you close them or start a new chat. Conversations you save stay in your collection, with student codes rather than names, until you delete them. Every suggestion is advice only, and every decision is yours (Trial Access Agreement, Section 4).
6. Who we share information with
We never sell personal information. We share it only in these cases.
Service providers who run the Platform for us, under terms that limit how they use it:
| Provider | What it does | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
| Clerk | Sign-in and accounts | Your name, email, sign-in details and account settings |
| Supabase | Database and file storage | What we store on our servers (student codes, never names) |
| Vercel | Hosting | Requests to the Platform and server logs |
| Anthropic | AI for Studio Addelaide and 2-pen analysis | Questions, answers, attached photos, and student codes and work |
| Vimeo | Classroom video | When you play a video: your IP address and browser details. Vimeo's privacy policy applies |
Other cases:
- With your school or district, only if you ask us to, or under an agreement between it and NPOL.
- When the law requires it, or to protect the rights, safety or property of students, educators, NPOL or others.
- If NPOL's business changes hands, for example in a merger or sale. Student information stays under the commitments in this policy.
- With your consent.
7. Cookies and storage on your device
- Sign-in cookies keep you signed in. The Platform can't work without them.
- Your browser's storage holds students' first names, your class list, and conveniences such as text size, which class you were viewing, and drafts.
- On student devices, a 2-pen cookie counts wrong code tries for 2 minutes.
- Vimeo's video player may set its own cookies when a video plays.
We do not use advertising cookies or third-party analytics.
8. How long we keep information
- Students and classes you delete: removed right away and permanently.
- Student information after a trial: if you don't continue, deleted within 60 days after your access ends.
- Backups: deleted information leaves our backups within 7 days.
- Your account details: kept after a trial ends so we can follow up with you, unless you ask us to delete your account.
- Agreement records and our deletion log: kept as business records. The deletion log records only what kind of data was deleted and when, never the data or any names.
- Feedback: kept to improve the Platform. We delete yours on request.
- Information entered by mistake: if information that identifies a student is entered by mistake, tell us and we will delete it.
9. How we protect information
- Information is encrypted in transit and at rest.
- Each account is walled off: database rules let an account read and change only its own records.
- Only NPOL staff who need access to support you have it.
- Students' names never reach our servers, so a breach of our systems could not expose them.
- No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your information or your students', we will notify you, and affected schools, without unreasonable delay and as the law requires.
10. Your choices
- See, correct or get a copy of your information, or delete your account: email us.
- Delete any student or class yourself, at any time.
- Stop updates: use the unsubscribe link in any update email, or email us.
- Parents: contact your child's school. Because we hold only codes, the school identifies the student, and we work with the school to respond.
- Depending on where you live, you may have other privacy rights. Email us and we will respond as the law requires.
11. Children
The Platform is for educators who are at least 18. Students don't create accounts and use it only as Section 3 describes. We don't knowingly collect personal information directly from children. If we learn we have, we will delete it.
12. Where information is stored
We and our service providers store and process information in the United States.
13. Changes to this policy
We will post any update here with a new version number and date. If a change is significant, we will tell you before it applies, for example by email or when you next sign in.
